Butech Bliss Commissions State-Of -The Art Stretch Leveling Line At Feralloy’s Ghent, Kentucky Service Center

Salem, OH – November 11, 2020 – Feralloy is one of the nation’s largest high-volume processors of flat-rolled steel, supplying precision-leveled material to demanding fabrication and manufacturing markets. Butech Bliss recently completed the design, manufacturing, and installation of a state-of-the-art system built around advanced stretch levers and integrated stretch leveling cut-to-length lines at Feralloy’s newest facility in Ghent, Kentucky, which is now fully operational.
This 90,000-square-foot processing center was designed to support next-generation coil-processing cut-to-length lines, allowing Feralloy to efficiently handle hot-rolled, pickled, oiled, and coated steel across a wide range of thicknesses and widths. Strategically located with rail, truck, and barge access, the site supports rapid material flow from upstream hot rolling mills and rolling mills through downstream fabrication.
The new line incorporates precision material handling, entry and exit equipment, and a Synergy® system featuring high-performance hydraulic roller levers that automatically compensate for machine deflection and maintain tight flatness tolerances. These leveling components work in tandem with powerful hydraulic plate levers and a 50-foot stretch bed capable of delivering 1,900 tons of stretching force, enabling the line to process material up to one inch thick and 76 inches wide without sacrificing accuracy.
By integrating roller pre-conditioning and stretch leveling into a single platform, the Ghent installation delivers superior shape correction compared to conventional roller leveling cut-to-length lines and temper mill cut-to-length lines, producing memory-free steel that stays flat through laser cutting, forming, and welding. The result is memory-free steel that remains flat during laser cutting, forming, and welding, giving Feralloy’s customers a major competitive advantage.
The new system also supports downstream processing through integrated slitting lines, multi-blanking lines, and material handling solutions that pair seamlessly with upstream push-pull pickling lines and trimming systems. Supporting equipment such as scrap choppers and side trimmers helps minimize waste while maintaining clean, efficient coil and sheet flow through the entire production process.
Together, this combination of advanced leveling, cutting, trimming, and material preparation technology positions Feralloy to meet increasingly strict flatness and tolerance requirements across construction, heavy equipment, and fabrication markets.
